BORN: approx. April 2004
This lovely female tabby is a mostly-feral addition to the Horde. She's named Ariel after an air spirit since she's a wild little nature spirit herself. She began showing up as a half-wild stray, eating food that we put out on the front porch. Randy fell in love with her big ears and sweet eyes.
She wouldn't let us get close enough to touch her, so we had to resort to trapping her in order to have her spayed and get shots. We brought her home on 9 Oct. 2004.
For the first month, she lived in a large cage that we bought. Then she voluntarily moved into the "cave" we had created for my Siamese, Owl, who had to be kept confined for three months after his knee surgery. It was more spacious and had mostly solid walls with a child gate across the front, so it turned out to be a much better space for her.
Then after two months, she found a way to wiggle out of the cave and I came into the office one morning to find her curled up in a cat bed under my desk. She has settled pretty happily into being a member of the Horde. She cuddles up to Puck a lot, and it's not unusual for me to turn around and find her somewhere within a few feet of me.
But she draws the line at being touched. Thus far, she is unshakeable in her rule of NO TOUCHING BY HUMANS. Perhaps someday, with enough patience and persistence, I will eventually be able to pet her.
